Master Your Morning Routine

Mark Zuckerberg wears the same outfit everyday. Steve Jobs asks himself an honest question in the mirror. Oprah Winfrey meditates. There are many articles on what the richest people in the world do to start their day, in which they claim for their success. You can copy these, but I can almost guarantee you won't enjoy them. Your morning routine should be specific to you and include things that get you excited to start your day! As a fellow non-millionaire, here are a few things I like to do to make my morning better*.

*CC and dry not included.

1. Set your alarm early

It's widely known that waking up early is seen as being successful. In reality, it just means you can get more shit done before your 9-5. Waking up with an extra half hour to be able to organise lunches, write a to-do list, exercise or drink your coffee without burning your tongue are all things that will put you in a better mindset at the start of your day.

Personally I like to wake up between 530am and 630am, depending on what I'm doing that day, and even though the first few minutes of waking makes me only want to roll over and go back to sleep, I get up out of bed anyway and start my morning off right.

2. Drink water

If I don't start my day with water, it's almost guaranteed I won't drink enough during the day. I aim to drink 2-3 litres a day, sometimes 4 depending on exercise. If you are someone who does the same then you know how hard it actually is! You can't drink that amount of water in the evening when you finally remember to do so because it's simply too much to handle at once. By starting in the morning, it's easier to spread out the amount throughout the day and you're bound to be more consistent.

3. (Simple) Skin care

I'm not one for fancy oils and serums, but I always like to moisturise my skin to keep it hydrated from the outside. I have been using the brand Simple Skincare for a few years now and it works well for me, my favourite moisturiser being this.

Also, being the shade of a ghost I need to put sunscreen on every day. Unfortunately I haven't found one that I'm 100% happy with and isn't too oily or thick so it's an ongoing battle to balance out my skin oils while being sun safe!

4. Exercise

It doesn't have to be rigorous, you just need to move. Go for a walk, do some yoga, stretch, or hit the gym. Whatever exercise regime works for you, try to get it done in the morning before any excuses hit. Not only will it leave your afternoon free without any regrets, it also helps with starting digestion and increasing circulation which can be beneficial for productivity during the day!

Four easy ways to get your morning routine mastered! Whatever you choose to do, make sure it makes you happy & grateful for the day ahead.

PS. Move more, move better
